Unique Inventory
An inventory model where each bookable unit is its own object with its own attributes, not an interchangeable count.
Most booking software models inventory as a number: '3 cabins available.' That works when units are interchangeable. It fails the moment they aren't, and for venues, retreats, and tour operators, they almost never are.
Unique inventory means Cabin 7 is a distinct object from Cabin 12. Cabin 7 has a kitchenette; Cabin 12 sleeps six; the lakefront cabins book out first. Each unit carries its own capacity, features, availability, and price.
Unique inventory is what makes two things possible: an attendee can choose a specific unit that fits their needs, and the system can guarantee the same unit is never double-booked. A count-based model can do neither.
